Webring linking sites about the Shorinjiryu Karate style as founded by Kaiso Kori Hisataka (1907-1988). Shorinjiryu Karate includes techniques from many sources, including those from China, Japan, and Okinawa. Grappling techniques are drawn from Tegumi, jujutsu, judo, and aikijutsu. Drawn from karate, the style includes Tigua, percussive impact, and Tuidi, nerve striking. Kaiso Kori Hisataka also mastered the weapons bo, jo, and sai. Karate elements include the vertical fist, the extended use of the hips in punching and kicking, and angular movement for evasion and defence. Other influences include the northern Chinese styles, particularly Baji Quan (Hakkyoku Ken in Japanese) and Shaolin Long Fist. Finally, foot stamping (ashi sabaki) and weight dropping (otoshi mi)
